Fake Friday: Designer Condoms, Sickeningly Cute Animals, and How To Disappoint Your Child

Here are some very popular, albeit phony, pins that have been making the rounds for quite some time, with seemingly no end to their popularity in sight…

The Fenneck Hare – This adorable critter is usually pinned with this commentery:  “The birth of one of the world’s rarest creatures was celebrated this week at North Korea’s Pyongyang People’s Zoo. The Fennec Hare is on the brink of extinction with only a handful remaining in captivity.”

This was a clever April Fool’s joke perpetrated by Zoo Borns but, as one commenter said regarding its falacy, “Who cares when it comes to cute?”

Glow-In-The-Dark Mountain Dew – This pin is still being re-pinned (usually by moms stating they can’t wait to try it out with their soon-to-be-very-disappointed offspring), despite the fact that it no longer links to either the video or blog post with the supposed instructions. That’s because both the video and blog post were taken down…because this is fake, as proven by Snopes.

Designer Condoms – Neither of these designer condoms were actually branded by the companies they showcase, but with the advent of so-called “Designer Babies”, this feels right on course with the downfall of the human race. It’s probably a very appealing item to those who flash their labia when exiting limos, carry their yippy dogs around in expensive handbags, wear sunglasses indoors, and believe Kim Kardashian got married for love.
